Change of Plans and Loving Food Trucks

Ugh, it’s raining again in New England. While yesterday we had some sun, the last 8 days have all been cloudy or raining! This weather has me seriously missing the Riviera Maya. Today is a travel day as I mentioned earlier I am heading to NYC for #FitBlogNYC. On my way to the train station, I planned to stop at my favorite lunch spot for a large salad just like one I had while in Mexico. On vacation I felt spoiled enjoying grilled shrimp with fresh avocado, veggies with creamy balsamic vinaigrette. I brought Larabars and Think Thin bars to have for lunch but quickly saved them when I realized how good the food was at our resort. It worked out for the best.

This time, once again I didn’t follow my original plan. It turns out, the lunch spots in Back Bay do not open until 11:30 AM and I was out of luck. I saw a Food Truck with it’s window open and was happy to try something new, although I was happy to know that I had a ThinkThin bar in my bag just in case. I settled for a small kale salad and side of beef from Mei Mei. The kale salad came with salty panko crisps and light tasting vinaigrette. The slow cooked beef was amazing but I’m not sure what it was. I’m just glad I didn’t have to eat lunch via the train cafe.

I’ve been obsessed with Food Trucks lately. I haven’t not been wowed by the flavor just yet, but am very impressed at how affordable the meals are! My little meal above was just $5. I’m also happy to support the local businesses and farms which make the food taste that much better I think.

This morning I ran 5-miles in the drizzling rain and was lucky enough to have bird poop land on my arm while running. This is the 3rd time in less than 2 months this has happened to me and it better be God’s way of telling me something really good is in my near future.

Hello, Aqua-aerobics! Painful to watch, entertaining to join.

Sure this is random, but since it’s raining and I’m feeling gloomy I wanted to post a tropical picture to lighten my mood.

While this was hardly moderate activity, my participation in Aqua-aerobics was market research I decided. I swear the fit and energetic Mexican boys who taught the classes have been to Barre Burn with Lauren! The class seemed more like a PG performance given by Chippendales dancers with a few aerobics moves thrown in. Still, it was better than nothing! I enjoy being able to laugh at myself. While only one of my friends joined me in the pool, I went back on Friday after discovering noodles had been added as a prop to the routine. One and a half days were sufficient for research.

Questions of the Day

  • Are you a frequent patron to Food Trucks in your city? If so, do you love them or hate them?
  • Have you been blessed with good luck after having a bird present land on you? I haven’t and am still waiting…
