Expo East 2009 Boston Healthy Food Trends to Watch For!
Day one of the Natural Product Expo East Convention was bursting with energy and healthy living products galore. The floor of the Boston Convention and Expo Centerwas covered by booths featuring all natural healthy goodness like Stevia In The Raw to QB Treats, which are ice cream covered in rice crispy treats, to natural cosmetics and reusable grocery bags.
The biggest trends coming out of Expo East are going to be:
- The emergence of stevia products. From food to drink and packets including stevia you can cook with (thanks to Stevia In The Raw), nay sayer of Splenda will be happy the natural sweetener is becoming main stream.
- Coconut water and milk. With reportedly 6 times the amount of vitamins and nutrients as a banana, these products are being marketed to those concerned with their hydration and refuel after working out. The taste takes a bit getting used to but many varieties taste promising. There are not many brand names that stick out as of yet, making the playing field wide open.
- Fish Oil or omega-3 infused products, especially ones for the little kiddies! Your children wont have to worry about fish burps with some of the fantastic lines being sampled at Expo East. Get your daily dose of Omega’s by having a few gummy bears.
Lastly, the best part of attending Expo East is being able to taste all the amazing products you see on the shelves at places like Whole Foods, without having to buy them. Another benefit, is being able to grab so many amazing healthy samples. It’s like halloween for an adult. Really! It is. Many companies like Clif Bar, Luna Bar, and ThinkThin give out sample sizes of their meal replacement bars which end up being like snacks. Let’s hope these companies start producing their smaller versions for purchase!
