I live for fall weekends. Living in the city, we rarely plan much and just enjoy the events going on in walking distance. One event I always look forward to is the Boston Book Festival also known as the Book Hubbub in Copley Square.
It’s close by, features live music and tons of free activities for little ones. This year the forecast was less than ideal in the morning, but it ended up being a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
One of the tents that I wanted to check out was the U.Fund Dreams Tour.
While we set up a College Savings Plan for Tommy right away, we have yet to do anything for Connor.
I stopped by the U.Fund Dreams Tour tent to ask a few questions on how to get started. It’s amazing how much you forget between children! I honestly can’t even remember the timing of most baby milestones. When do they sleep through the night???
At the tent, I was able to ask questions about opening a Massachusetts 529 plan in Connor’s name. The MEFA U.Fund College Investing Plan is a tax-advantaged college investment plan managed by Fidelity. By the time Connor starts college, it is predicted to cost $128,362 for a single year of a private education in New England.
If you are not familiar, MEFA is a nonprofit state authority that works to make higher education more accessible and affordable. When you save, any earnings on your investments grow tax-deferred. There is also an in-state income tax deduction for Massachusetts residents.

While I was chatting with folks working at the tent, Tommy had fun coloring.
Tommy’s too young to tell me what he wants to be so I had some fun too at the photo booth. I am admittedly a huge Kate Middleton fan. I’d at least like to borrow her closet.
If I had been asked in high school what I wanted to be, my answer would have been a tv news reporter. There was no such thing as a Blogger or Influencer back then!
