Video: How To Make Any Yoga Class Pregnancy Friendly + Prenatal Modifications

I mentioned yesterday that I had a video coming out featuring prenatal yoga modifications and wadayaknow… here it is! Freshly uploaded today, I shot this video with my long time friend and yoga instructor Erica Bornstein, whose class I love at Yoga Works Back Bay, a couple of weeks ago.

Since I have been struggling to find good prenatal yoga classes in the city, I’ve just been going to regular yoga classes using some of these modifications. If you are newly pregnant and want to do the same, watch this video to figure out what you should or shouldn’t do during your practice.

In the video we demonstrate modifications to take during the following poses in a regular vinyasa yoga class:

  • Sun Salutations
  • Updog
  • Back Bending
  • Twists
  • Savasana

I also included my favorite pose to do when you don’t know what you should be doing as well as the deal with inversions and a breach baby.

Like Erica’s style? Check out her teaching schedule around town here.

Also, I was informed that Healthworks in Back Bay offers prenatal yoga classes to non members on Thursdays! I wish I knew this months ago. I don’t see it on the schedule this week, so I’m not linking to it, but if you live near a Healthworks – call and ask.
