Review - The Boston Kebab House
I’m obsessed. Before this afternoon, all I ever heard about this place were good things and that I would love it. Normally this sets you up for a very disappointing meal. Today after a meeting in the North End, I stopped by the financial district where all the suits live in the city to meet my sister for my first Kabob House experience.
I tried to post a picture here on Tumblr but it won’t post. Anyway, this place is AMAZING. For less than $6 bucks you get a good sized salad with TWO proteins (I got Tarragon Chicken and Egg Whites) plus all the topping that you want! Yes, you read that right. ALL THE TOPPINGS FOR THE SAME PRICE. What didn’t did I get?
I got Tarragon Chicken, egg whites, roasted red peppers, mushrooms, green olives, feta, roasted eggplant, onions, artichokes, beets, and a few sunflower seeds. For dressing I got this hummus vinaigrette on the recommendation of my sister. It was everything I had ever dreamt of and more.
Normally when I go to places like this, I’m all over the place and end up with a big salad that doesn’t really go together. Surprisingly, this all went together really well. I can’t wait to go back and I highly recommend to all my Boston readers. Boston lacks good healthy places to eat at, yet we are a very healthy city. What’s up with that?
This is what I want. Right now. Fro yo with Mango. Trying not to melt in the mean time.
Dinner last night was so simple yet delicious! The chicken breast was pre marinated in a white wine and garlic sauce, grilled corn (without salt and butter of course!), and a nice little salad with tomato, vidalia onion, couple of croutons and balsamic vinaigrette. I try to avoid croutons but in all honesty, it’s one of those things that just makes a salad for me.
Do you enjoy my posts? If so, please click on the picture to recommend me :) I haven’t asked in a long time, and I don’t even think I’m in the directory any more, so pretty please with a cherry on top :)
Vegetarian Lentil Experiment Recipe #1 - Inspired by Indian Cuisine
I love lentils so I decided to try and make them on my own. Let me start by saying, they are pretty difficult to work with, but I think my first attempt was a success.
First, did you know lentils have 10 g of protein a serving (which is just 150 calories)?!
I decided to make an Indian dish from scratch without a recipe, which might sound like quite the challenge but I gave it my all. I started out by sautéing garlic and onions. Then I added the lentils (1 cup) and two cups of water. I let them simmer for 30-45 minutes while adding in some ingredients here and there. Here is what I added:
- Cayene Pepper
- Paprika
- Cumin
- Curry
- Onion Salt
- Little bit of Ginger
Once I realized something was missing, the final addition that made the dish amazing was good old fashioned tomato paste (1/2 small can). I like to think that this dish was healthy but since I was adding as I went, I don’t have an exact recipe to share. I bet it was sorta high in salt but since I don’t eat too much, I’m not too worried personally.
Next time, I will take measurements of the ingredients. Did I basically make a typical Indian side dish and not know it?
For dinner last night I had a chicken patty from TJ’s, half a sweet potato and made a salad. It was filling, delicious and very clean.
I love Tuna salad however I go in phases of what my favorite recipe is. In high school, I made it with lemon, (very little) mayo, red onion and celery. In college, I loved adding relish and a little bit of mustard and mayo. Now, my favorite way to make it is with hummus, dijon mustard and celery.
How do you make your tuna salad?
