ENABLING YOUR PASSION FOR HEALTHY LIVING

Healthy Aging, Does it exist?

Today’s blog post is brought to you by my friends from MitoQ.

The other day @mariavazquez2 wrote on my Instagram, “I don’t get why you look so wrinkly!! ???”

No joke. You can see for yourself here. Looking at it on a computer, it looks much worse than on my phone and I even used the glamour glow filter from Snapseed.

People are so weird though on social media. I really would love to know what was going through her mind at the time that she felt so compelled by my crows feet to leave a comment.

Should I tell her that most images are photoshopped and probably 99% of the people she usually looks at in magazines have had theirs digitally removed?

This comment however made me realize that I am getting older and probably should start using some sort of anti aging cream that actually works. I’m a parent! Is the stress of it all already showing on my face? Is it possible to age healthfully?

According to new studies, regular exercise can decrease inflammation in the body that naturally occurs with aging, which could also help reduce your risk of developing age related diseases and conditions like heart disease.

But let’s be honest, most of us think of aging at this point in our lives as to what age we look on the outside. We exercise to feel young and have energy but we want people think we look good for our age too, right?

There are so many products on the market that promise to reduce the appearance of wrinkles but often there is no proof or science to back these claims.

I recently was introduced to an entirely new concept of slowing down the aging process not just on the surface but from cellular level. MitoQ is a brand new type of antioxidant called a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant. It fights free radical damage and supports the appearance of youthful levels of collagen and elastin, for healthier, younger looking skin.

Why are healthy mitochondria the key to long term health?

Mitochondria controls every cell in your body. It’s known as your cellular batteries. It converts the food we eat and oxygen we breathe into the energy our cells need to keep our organs functioning optimally and our bodies healthy. Free radicals are produced as a result of cellular actions which cause oxidative stress. Oxidative stress essentially is what causes natural aging, things like wrinkles and yes, the breakdown of our organs. MitoQ penetrates the mitochondria to reduce free radicals produced, slowing down the aging process.

You can learn more by downloading the ebook, “Why mitochondria are so important to our health and how they influence the speed at which we age.” It’s pretty interesting but too detailed for here.

I have been using the serum for over a week now and already notice the skin around my eyes feels more supple, but I’ll have to share an update after I’ve used it a little longer. You’re supposed to wear it under make up and sun protection, once or twice a day. I hate that at 32, I’m already thinking of anti-aging remedies but with my affection for running outdoors, I’ve noticed the sun taking a toll despite wearing 30 SPF daily.

They also have a supplement, like NMN bulk powder, you can take daily but since I’m breastfeeding, I’m waiting to try that until I stop. MitoQ’s patented formula helps protect our bodies against long-term inflammation, nerve and tissue damage that ultimately results in a shorter health and life span.

The more healthy mitochondria your body contains, the better you’ll feel, and the more robust your metabolism will be. A mighty mitochondrial force translates to better energy and focus, and greater ability to sustain high levels of activity without fatiguing.

MitoQ has recently been invited to participate in the USA’s prestigious National Institute of Aging’s (NIA) Interventions Testing Program (ITP) – an internationally renowned anti-aging testing program funded by the US Government, and, has been selected as Product of the Year, by ‘Truth In Aging’ for the second year running. I’m curious how this got funded when we can’t pass a law on stricter gun control but whatever that’s off topic…

You can read customer testimonials here if you are skeptical, too.

With all the different products, I hate wasting my money and time trying to figure out if something works. If you are interested in trying MitoQ, you can get 20% off using promo code FAB20 at checkout. I won’t lie, this product is pricey. I didn’t realize how expensive it was when I originally tried the serum but after reading some of the reviews on Truth In Aging, I wanted to at least share it with you guys, put it on your radar, if anti-aging is something you are seriously concerned with. Truth in Aging is pretty great site as well, honestly reviewing various anti-aging products from multiple sources! Check it out.
