ENABLING YOUR PASSION FOR HEALTHY LIVING

Elle, 2 Month Update + Boston area newborn and maternity photographer

I can’t believe it’s almost been a month since I posted on my blog! Three kids is not any harder than 2 in my honest opinion except that someone is always crying AND there is no downtime unless you give your oldest an iPad while the other 2 nap!

I love this sweet photo of Elle as a newborn that was taken by Melissa Robotti, who is a Boston area maternity, newborn, family portrait and wedding photographer. Melissa has been taking out family photos for almost 2 years and I’m always so excited to see what she captured. There’s always a lot of love and emotion!

Elle has grown since this picture was taken. She was 11 lbs and change at her 2 month check up a week ago. Once babies are 12 lbs, they are “able” to sleep through the night so I’m always eager to hit 12 lbs BUT my children never seem to actually hit 8 hours of consecutive sleep once they do.

We never ended up hiring a night nurse. The sticker shock was steep when I realized I could buy a Peloton treadmill. She has been a pretty good sleeper. I’m not sure if it’s the third child or the fact she’s a girl, but the newborn phase has been a lot easier for me this time around! I know what I’m doing sort of, but she also is a lot more chill. I knew she would be based on her movement in the womb compared to her brothers!

She currently will give me 6-7.5 hour stretches at night. We are working to get up to 8 or 9 hours now. I bought the Mom’s On Call book but the sleep training method for stretching the nights doesn’t feel “me.” I can’t figure out how to stretch the nights using Babywise except to make sure I’m feeding her every 2.5 to 3 hours. A lot of people have recommended Taking Cara Babies but she was outed as donating to the Trump campaign and to be quite honest, I don’t want me dollars going towards someone who is giving their dollars to someone who I feel is horrible human being. Call me petty, I don’t care. She does have some good free advice on her blog and it honestly does feel more consistent with my comfort levels so I’m using the free resources she has shared on Instagram.

I hesitate to share much about her sleep because whenever I do, I jinx it! Lol. We got rid of the swaddle but I’m thinking I might bring it back but give her a hand to munch on.

Elle can lift her head up and is smiling. Cooing is new and it’s fun to have conversations with her. Her favorite thing is to watch me sing and dance in the kitchen while I get dinner ready. Ok ok… MY favorite thing to do is make her smile while I dance and sing in the kitchen while I get dinner going. She gives me the BIGGEST smiles during this time which is normally a witching hour for most babies.

She’s wearing mostly 3-6 month clothes at this point too although they are a little big! She is obsessed with her hands. This photo is another portrait taken by Melissa Robotti at our home for her newborn session. She loved having her hands by her face then and she still does now! Melissa did such a wonderful job capturing her little personality just a few weeks old and it still shines through!

Tommy’s obsession with holding her is down to a normal level that I’m comfortable with BUT Elle instantly tenses up when the boys, especially T is around. They don’t exactly get that’s they can’t sit on her head and don’t realize when they aren’t being gentle.

They are still very very sweet with her and they usually ask to hold her once or twice a day!

As for me, my night sweats are starting to go away. I had a random nerve issue on my left leg postpartum when it would feel like stabbing pain down my left shin if I put pressure on my left knee and that is finally going away!

I was diagnosed with a milk prolapse at my 6 week check up as well as a mild diastasis recti which I had going into pregnancy so the fact that it didn’t get bigger is hopeful for me!

We are done having kids and it feels good to almost be at the end of the 4th trimester! Ok, that’s all the time I have for now 🙂

If you are looking for a maternity or newborn photographer or just a photographer for family portraits in the Boston area, make sure to check out Melissa Robotti Photography! I couldn’t recommend her more!
