It’s never too early to talk about planning you workout schedule around the holidays. I’m teaching at Barry’s Bootcamp on Black Friday at 8:10 AM and plan to take class afterwards myself so if you’re in town, come pay me a visit before you shop on Newbury Street. We have showers with Malin & Goetz products, too!
As part of my campaign with adidas, I’ve been creating posts for their training website. This month, I’m dishing out my top tips for finding time to exercise during the Holidays. It’s not live just yet, but you can check out my posts here.
Here are a few of the tips that I implement myself during the holidays…
1. Schedule your workouts like appointments and stick to them. If a friend invites you out to lunch on Black Friday and you have a workout scheduled, suggest getting your nails done after a little shopping later in the day. Keep your fitness appointment.
2. If you’re traveling find a studio to try out. I’ve mentioned GoRecess in the past, but if you are unfmailiar with the site, it’s great for finding local studios when away from home that accept drop ins. I found my love for CorePower Yoga and Barry’s Bootcamp doing this while visiting my brother in LA. Yelp and RateYourBurn are also good resources.
3. Workout first thing in the morning. This way you get the hard part of your day out of the way and can enjoy it to the fullest! Whenever I put off sweating until later in the day, I feel much less productive as my daily tasks are weighted by the inevitable hour leading up to exercise and the hour getting ready afterwards. It totally puts a funk in my day especially when it’s a Saturday or Sunday.
I’ll let you know when the rest of the post is up on adidas training but in the mean time, how do you find time to exercise during the holidays? If you live in Boston, don’t forget to join me at Barry’s some time soon. I teach Monday at 4 pm, Tuesday and Friday at 8 am.

Love the top 🙂 and I truly believe in scheduling your workouts in -- make them like a work appt you wouldn’t miss because they are an APPT that will WORK FOR YOU!!! even if it is a 20 min. interval workout, 20 mins is enough…just fit it in that schedule!
i love your pink sweater! ♡ yes its hard to get into the workout mood so early in the morning but therefore you can enjoy the rest of the day and don’t have to worry about it anymore! (:
Working out during the holidays when everything seems to be so busy can become difficult, but I totally agree with everything you said. You have to schedule your workouts and stick to them. Finishing them first thing in the morning definitely always helps me. If I have a day I know I won’t be able to work out, I like to try to make that my rest day.
these are great tips! i’ll have to keep these in my head this holiday season!
Exercise is non-negotiable in my book. Never has, and never will be. It’s my way to start the day, much like others need coffee. I need exercise. Works like a charm! 🙂
I do HIIT training during the holidays. It is allows me to use my time efficiently and effectively. I can get in a great workout without spending a ton of time. I also do more body weight workouts so I don’t need to worry about equipment, getting to the gym, etc.
Great advice, Thanks for sharing! I have just discovered your blog, absolutely love it!!
