With Thanksgiving just a few days a way, that means it is officially the giving season. I will be hosting a bunch of giveaways over the next few weeks and the first one up is from Nourish Snacks.

Working from home, portion control will always be a struggle. It’s just too easy to grab another handful. I try to buy snacks that are sold in single serving packages to make it easy on myself. It’s also convenient for when I travel or pack a lunch. Unfortunately, these options are usually limited to trail mix or bars which can be expensive.

Like monthly beauty box subscriptions, the health industry introduced snack boxes. Some had iffy ingredients, others had too much sugar and I pretty much gave up on finding one I really liked. I was asked to sample Nourish snacks, a brand by NBC’s Today show Nutrition and Health Expert, Joy Bauer and to my surprise, the snacks were not full of sugar but were simple and made with wholesome ingredients.

The best part was that this wasn’t a reoccurring membership you had to have. You could just order the snacks when you wanted and even pick out the exact kinds you were sent!

IMG 1025

What separates Nourish from its competitors is the fact that servings are already measured and pre packaged. No serving is over 200 calories and each packet is a realistic snack serving size.  There are 35 snack blends that contain no GMO’s, no preservatives, no harmful artificial colors or sweeteners. They are also natural gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian.

IMG 1021

I think my favorite sweet treat are the Monkey Love granola bites or Menage-a-Mix for a kick of protein. Kathie Lee and Hoda recently named Nourish Snacks one of their favorite things of 2014. You can buy specific flavors a la carte at $10 for 5 bags, order a set of 20 for $36 or get 50 bags for $86.

My go-to snacks are almonds, fruit or some sort of protein bar. Healthy snacking a little throughout the day keeps me in line with portion sizes at meal time. If I don’t get a snack in in usually ravenous by dinner!

I love the mambo mix from Food for Life, the to go packs are great and already portioned out. I also love individual bags of popcorn, non GMO dairy free. Pure bars are also a go to and Costco sells those, also the GMO, gluten and dairy free 🙂

My favorite snacks are apples with peanut butter, carrots with hummus, and banana with yogurt. I always measure my serving and then put the rest away so I’m not tempted to come back and pour more. If I’m packing snacks to take with me, I measure and pour into small containers or bags. Personally, it’s easier for me to overeat carbs and fats than fruit and veggies. Keeping snacks in proper proportion is pretty simple if it’s fruit with nut butter, carrots with hummus, etc. It gets more difficult when I make a batch of granola bars and have to be reasonable in what size I divide them. 😛

Thanks for the awesome giveaway! 🙂

Snacking has always been one thing that is hard for me. I used to mindlessly munch all the time. I have learned how to keep my portions in control by prepackaging snacks. If I have almonds I put them in snack baggies based on their portion size that way I know exactly when enough is enough. My favorite snacks are apples with peanut butter, hummus and veggies, cottage cheese with pineapple, and almonds and dried fruit.

My snacks that I like are fruit, nuts and yogurt. Portion control is something I struggle with but I try to never eat out of the bag. I like to pour the portion on a plate or bowl and sit down to eat it.

I work from home too so I totally understand the portion control issue since I don’t have to pack a lunch. My go-to snacks are nuts, fruit, and I love homemade chia pudding. It is nice to be able to make it ahead of time and then put it into single-serve containers and then just grab from the fridge!

Thanks for the giveaway and happy holidays!!

My go-to snacks are Lara Bars and KIND bars. I love the different variety of flavors they offer and they both always keep my full and energized. I also like nut butters. 😉 I do make sure I portion out 2 tbsp into a container when I pack my lunch… or else I could eat the whole jar in one sitting!

My go to snacks are an apple or banana with peanut or almond butter, a green juice, or some type of bar. When I’m packing things like nuts or granola for work I always portion them out in single portion containers otherwise I might just eat a whole bag of granola or cashews (it’s happened many times 🙂 )

Greek yogurt with some crock pot pumpkin granola tossed in, apples with almond butter, a handful of nuts and a portion of fruit or fruit and cubed cheese are favorite snacks. Portioning the yogurt using small glass jars, and baby food jars for the granola to take out of home, and most of the cheek or almond butter goes in a glass baby food jar, a spoon comes with me and the fruit is in my bag. And I almost always keep a bottle of ice water with me in my bag, car, desk, etc. to help make sure I am hydrated as well and not just snacking thinking I am hungry when I am thirsty.

My go-to snacks tend to be whole foods (a piece of fruit, hard-boiled egg, pumpkin seeds). I try to create portioned out servings at the beginning of the week for snacks like seeds, nuts, dried fruit, or popcorn, so I don’t find myself eating the whole bag.

My go to snack is usually fruit, which I get from work so it’s automatically portion controlled. When I’m eating something junkier at home I just try to be mindful over how full I am, and only keep the bare minimum of snack foods around, so I’m not tempted to snack on multiple items.

I normally eat 6 times a day, so portion control is super important! I try to make sure my main 3 meals are under 350 calories and my snacks are under 200. When I eat out, I make sure to cut it in half especially if it’s dinner size.

I usually make my own proteinballs and keep them in the freezer so that I can grab one when I need a quick fix. I love that I can choose exactly what goes in them. The batch in my freezer now is made with dates, cashews, walnuts, cocoa, coconut oil and proteinpowder. I’ll probably throw in some gingerbread spices next time to make them fit the holidays. My favourite go to snack is either a handful of raisins and nuts or your breakfast cookies. They are so divine and amazing and perfect to have before a workout or when you are in a hurry. They are sweet and the tastes go so well with each other and the best thing is that there are no added sugars or bad e numbers. The biggest reason to why I want to win these snacks are one because it is so expensive to buy healthy things her where I live and especially snack, and second because I have such a BIG problem with portion control. I have a handful of raisins and when I have finished I always want more, I get cravings and go and grab some more because the pack is open. Because the products are already packaged it means that I don’t have to grab the snack in my bare hands, because I have got OCD and bacteria phobia I just can’t grab it in my hands and eat it. Because I have chosen to live a active lifestyle and my school takes a lot of time I often need to snack but nether my body or wallet/purse thank me if I have to buy it and don’t have time to pack it in the morning because I go up at 5 a to go to the gym!

For something to tide me over if I don’t know when I’ll have time to eat again, I really love baking my own sweet potato chips. Just slice the sweet potatoes very thinly, drizzle with olive oil, add a sprinkle of sea salt, cinnamon, and chili powder before baking in the oven. All the flavor without the guilt 🙂

I buy the snack bags from Target that have measurements on them, and fill them with a serving of nuts or fruit or whatever I’m snacking on!

I love fruit like apples, bananas, pears, etc., string cheese, almonds and l’m also a sucker for bars! Most of these are already preportioned so l don’t have a problem with serving sizes 🙂

I like perfect food bars- they have mini ones but these look great!

My go to snack is a green smoothie! I love adding hand fulls of spinach or kale to almond milk and blending in some of the following: pumpkin, apples, frozen bananas, avocado, flaxseed/chia seed, lemon, and other fruits and veggies. I usually keep it in the freezer for a bit and then top it with healthy no-sugar added granola, dried fruit, or shredded coconut (and lately pumpkin spice since its holiday time!) I absolutely LOVE trail mix but as you said, its hard to control portion sizes. The Nourish Snacks single-portion packs sound like a great alternative. I’d love to try them!

My favorite snack is kale chips. I measure and prepackage into baggies using a food scale. I also love chickpeas by The Good Bean. I think they come in single serve bags but I found a big bag at HomeGoods so I fill a GoStak jar to take with me when I’m on the go. They’re so handy for snacks like the chickpeas or nuts/trail mix.

My go yo snacks are nuts. I manage portions by measuring them out otherwise I eat too many.

My go to snack is nut butter and fruit. I keep my portions in check by purchasing pre-packaged butters so I don’t eat the whole jar in one sitting!

I love eating nuts, cheese, and fruit as a snack. Often I’ll set it all out on a plate like a cheese plate and put all of the ingredients away before I can put more on the plate.
