ENABLING YOUR PASSION FOR HEALTHY LIVING

The household item you didn’t know you needed for your family’s eye comfort and overall wellbeing

Tommy’s new thing is that he is afraid of the dark. We believe we are in the midst of transitioning away from a nap because he stays awake until 9-10 pm at night. At bedtime, he requests the lights stay on, and I feel like that just adds to the difficulty of falling asleep.

The light in his room was so bright and harsh; I don’t know how anyone could sleep with it on. If I turned it off after he fell asleep, he’d wake up in the middle of the night crying saying that he was afraid of the dark. If I left it on, the light would wake him up at 3 or 4 am.

Night-lights were not bright enough, so I decided to try something new. I switched out the light bulbs in his room with Philips SceneSwitch LED light bulbs. They have three light settings in just one bulb – flip your existing wall or lamp switch on, then off and on again to get to your preferred light setting. No additional installation required. The bulbs are not only energy-efficient and long-lasting, but are also designed for the comfort of your eyes.

I thought these would give us the flexibility to always have the best light, and have been very happy since making the switch! Tommy has already been falling asleep faster since we started using Philips SceneSwitch’s warm, dim light setting during bedtime. It’s also a good setting for just relaxing at the end of the day, a romantic dinner or meditating. If you own a spin bike at home, this setting would be ideal to mimic the low lighting at studios like SoulCycle and Recycle Studio!

These Philips LED light bulbs aren’t just great for Tommy’s room. I also love them for myself!

Philips SceneSwitch’s brighter light setting —that mimics daylight is great for taking my Instagram feed photos and is energizing while also being comfortable on the eyes. It’s an effortless way to get more energy for your next workout, especially if it’s to finish a workout video in your living room! Staring at a computer screen all day is not ideal for your eyes. When it comes to our health and well-being, we often overlook the importance of caring for our eyes. However, it is worth making eye comfort a priority, especially as we spend more time indoors and in front of screens. For daily activities, such as cooking dinner, we flip our switch to use the soft white light setting for optimum eye comfort.

Taking better care of yourself is as easy as changing a light bulb.

Philips SceneSwitch LED light bulbs have been tested and meet key “eye comfort criteria”. They have been evaluated for their quality and against factors that can impact eye comfort such as flicker, glare, dimming and color rendering, among other effects.

At the end of the day, my eyes are super tired and irritated, making bed time less enjoyable. Here are a few tips to optimize your eye comfort:

  • If in front of screens (computers, smartphones, televisions) for extended periods of time, every 20 minutes, close your eyes for 20 seconds to allow them to relax.
  • Use quality light such as Philips LEDs, so your eyes feel comfortable.
  • If outdoors, wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection to help protect your eyes from the sun. It’s helpful to keep a pair with you in your bag or car, so they are always nearby.
  • To exercise and strengthen your eyes, incorporate simple, yet effective eye yoga exercises for a few minutes each day.
  • Schedule regular check-ups with an eye specialist, who will be able to detect the first signs of any eye conditions or diseases.

So, at the end of this blog post you might be thinking, is this a sponsored post for a light bulb on Sarah Fit? The answer is yes because you all know Tommy has been struggling to fall asleep, and this was our savior. We live in an older building and do not have the best lighting fixtures. Without hiring an electrician to install dimmers, this was the easiest way to help Tommy fall asleep with the light on while caring for his eyes and overall wellbeing in the long run.
