This weekend in New England looks like it is going to be gorgeous! I am hosting my sister’s bridal shower and could not be more thrilled with the forecast. I’m also pretty proud of my Pinterest in real life DIY skills. For a quick recap of the week I figured I would share my work out schedule since people seem to ask me frequently what I do.
- Monday: MetCon (45 minutes), Ab Blast (15 minutes), Barre Burn (45 minutes) <-Not typical. I had nothing else to do.
- Tuesday: Ran 5 miles (5 min warm up, 1 minute fast, 3 minutes slow, repeat until I got home)
- Wednesday: Ran 3 miles and did Hip Hop Yoga for 60 minutes
- Thursday: Ran 5 miles (5 min warm up, ran fast for .5 miles, ran slow for .5 miles, repeat until I got home).
- Friday: Cardio Barre Burn (60 minutes)
I do not typically take 3 classes (see Monday) but the weekend was a splurge fest, I had tons of energy, thanks to an afternoon iced coffee, and Roomie wasn’t going to be home until late.
I recently put on a few lb’s which is why I’ve been adding in the intervals and MetCon class. Since I think people lie about how much they weigh, I wanted to post this picture I took after filming on Wednesday. The top is by MPG and bottoms by New Balance. The morning this picture was taken I weighed 138 lbs (I’m 5’4 and 3/4 of an inch tall). My “happy weight” or when I feel the most confident is at 132 lbs.
Since the weather is looking ravishing, I figured I would re-post one of my most popular recipes from my Tumblr page for new followers. A friend in the Junior League made this for our last provisional group meeting and it was a huge hit!
Texas Caviar – Summer BBQ Recipe
Texas Caviar Recipe
- 2 avocados
- 2 tomatoes (remove pulp inside)
- 1/2 red onion chopped
- 1 can black beans (rinsed)
- 1 can Green Giant Mexicorn
- juice of 1 lime
- fresh cilantro chopped to taste
- 1/3 c white vinegar
- 1/3 c olive oil
- 1 packet good seasons Italian seasoning (mix with vinegar and olive oil)
Chop it all up and mix it together. Double for a large party.
I am also planning on making my Truffle Balls but with a cake twist and blue vanilla frosting. I bought lollipop sticks to make them as cake balls. For a stand, I purchased a block of Styrofoam and plan to paint silver and anchor the sticks into it.
Earlier in this post I revealed that I had gained a few pounds. Now I’m sharing the processed food dessert I’m making for the shower. I guess I’m a walking example of why weight loss is always a battle.
No one ever lost weight by accident (unless they were sick). It really takes deliberate and mental effort 24/7.
My theory is that we aren’t getting a cake, so at least a cake balls are portion controlled right?
That Texas caviar looks delicious! And don’t stress about the number on the scale. You look fabulous!
Though I understand wanting to be at a happy weight, I think you look fantastic in this photo!
oh yes, I totally agree 100%! And your recipe sounds really tasty~I love tangy/herby salad type dishes. Probably why I love tabbouli and such. 🙂
you look so great in the photo, we are the same weight in the photo, my happy weight is 135:) Love your blog and love your honesty! it goes a long way:)
That caviar looks yummy! Was that photo taken along the Jamaicaway? It looks familiar! Great job on getting in all those classes! Have fun at th shower!
You look super fit and thanks for your honesty! I just posted about my body composition results and was ready for the critiques, but I think people appreciated seeing the facts.
Have a fabulous time at your sister’s wedding! Cake balls--LOVE that idea!
Whether you weigh 138 or 132 you look damn good!
I agree! You look awesome… Flat tummy .. I know we all have our happy and comfy weight. But could that extra be some more muscle???? Perhaps? Can I ask.. You and your readers… What are YOUR trouble areas.. And what do you do about it ( besides endlessly staring in the mirror wishing it away… Ha )
Also , Sarah, I wanted to ask.. Have you ever been injured as a result of your fitness ?? I tweaked my back running my 5th half marathon last week. No workouts all week makes a girl stir crazy!! Ha. Just trying to cut out the extra bites and treats … ;).
Thanks! Love your candidness!
That salad looks delish!
I know exactly what you mean about having a “happy weight,” but remember that you are your biggest critic and seriously, you look FABULOUS!
Yeah, you look really great in that photo, extra pounds or not!
Sarah you look amazing! Great post and thank you for posting you weekly workout schedule. I love learning what other workout fanatics do!
I like that you call it your happy weight. My weight right now is fine but my happy weight is about 5lbs less. Somehow a few pounds seem to make all the difference.
You look great! And I just saw you in person -- you looked great at RTB too 🙂
I feel ya on the weight gain. Its a constant struggle but when I am at my happy weight I feel so much more confident and happy… it’s worth getting back down there, at least for me.
you look beautiful — and i understand about the happy weight feeling. i didn’t want to put a but there lol. but nothing!! portion controlled cake is awesome.
I can totally understand what you are saying. I am also 5’4″ and currently 140 pounds. I am most comfortable at 133. I respect what you are saying and I am also going to try and buckle down lose those 7 pounds. Good luck!! By the way, I think you look great!
We all struggle with the number on the scale and maintaining what we consider to be our ‘perfect’ body! You look great, so keep doing what you’re doing (like eating cake!)
And I LOVE that flower! I may just have to try it 🙂
You look great! I am also 5’4 and weigh 138….but I don’t look as good and trim as you do……you look alot smaller for sure…..you probably have alot more muscle…which makes for a smaller look. I need to start lifting more. Thank you for being an inspiration!
I find you so inspirational and think that you look phenomenal in that picture
I agree with the poster who asked if that is Jamaica Pond? That is my favorite place to run!
Hey Sarah!!
I <3 how you told us your weight in the photo and your happy weight and how we are all human and can learn to love food and deal with it and live a happy normal tone it up life =) I am 5'6" and I usually battle around 127 and my happy weight is at the low 120's when I'm a good doobie and do follow the 7 day slim down. But I can't maintain that. Also, I am not as toned as you and I'm not gifted with boobs lol. But I'm happier than when I was 158!
The salad looks amazing! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Can I just say THANK YOU for your honesty? Takes nerve to be honest like that and you look great. Salad looks yummy. Keep kicking ass.
