If you live in Boston or NYC, get excited for tonight! It’s the official Fashion’s Night Out! Retail stores will be staying open until 11 pm and offering drinks, snacks and giveaways!
FNO was started in 2009 by VOGUE Magazine, CFDA, NYC & CO and the City of New York, as a way to restore consumer confidence during the recession. I’m not sure about all the details in NYC but here in Boston, they are shutting down Newbury street for live street performances by Berklee Students and a runway fashion show. Stores will be serving champagne, cupcakes, giveaways, and celebrity meetings. Get all the details at FNOBoston.com for each store’s details.
I’m super excited to be covering the event Project Fashion for Dirty Water TV, a local nightlife TV show I’m a reporter for. The event is the only invite only show going on (so it’s not technically part of FNO Boston, all the events must be open to the public to be a part of it) but it goes to raise money for fashion students with promising talent. Teen Vogue editors and interns (sans Whitney and Lauren) will be there along with a few local personalities.
I am scheduled to interview the mayor of Boston which is pretty exciting, Mayor Menino and perhaps a few Bruins players. I interviewed Zdeno Chara last winter, and Stephen Tyler this summer for DWTV so I’m excited to see who else will be there! I don’t typically get nervous interviewing celebrities, but when I have to talk about Fashion in front of the best designers in Boston, I DO! I’m no fashionista but I try really hard. Roomie doesn’t typically like fashionable clothing so the need to stay up with the trends is purely for DWTV. Even when I buy clothes that are very trendy, I only wear them when I’m on air for DWTV. I bought a cute Cynthia Rowley dress for tonight (I got it at Marshalls for $30.. shhh), but part of me is nervous, the designers will know!
Girls totally dress for girls, and designers when they have to interview them.
Help me before my interviews! What is suppose to be trendy this Fall!? Any hot topics in fashion to ask?
1. What will we see on the runway for New York’s fashion week (happening next week)?
2. Cuffs, silk shirts, blazers, fur, cropped pants are all big for fall.
3. What’s one piece of clothing that we should spend the money on?
4. With the economy the way it is, where should people be shopping for high fashion but with a much less price tag?
5. Who is the style icon of the moment?
Thank you Tiffi!!!! Great questions! Seriously, are you a fashion reporter?
I wish! One more question suggestion. What is one trend the interviewee is happy to leave behind?
COLOR BLOCKING !!!! 🙂
Have fun !!!! That sounds awesome.
You should check out the stores on Newbury! I have a Junior League meeting before and am so bummed bc there are so many fun things that are going on!
We also have FNO here in Miami this weekend. Thanks for reminding me. I almost forgot. LOL. A friend of mine works at Macy’s and they are making a really BIG thing out of it. Let’s see what happens.
Have fun!!
