I Didn’t Wash My Hair After Working Out For a Week, This Is What Happened

I recently shot a vlog over the course of a week showing what my workouts look like. In addition, I didn’t wash my hair once! I wore a shower cap while rinsing off. Blew dry my hairline if it was wet from sweat or the shower and then used Living proof’s Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo.

Living Proof Contest

If you are anything like me, you likely wash your hair after every sweaty workout. I used to wash my hair every time I showered up until about a year ago when I was pregnant and discovered PHD Dry Shampoo. Living proof put me up to this sweaty challenge. I accepted because if it worked, it would save me a ton of time getting ready after a workout and also help me out as a new mom who some days, doesn’t have time to shower.

Dry shampoo is god sent for women who want to workout during their lunch hour, prolong a blow out or just speed up the amount of time it takes to get ready. It’s also good for your hair. Reducing the number of times you wash it will prolong color, if treated. Since I haven’t had time to get a hair cut or color since Tommy was born, this has become a selling point for me. I’ve tried a lot of different brands dry shampoo and Living proof is without a doubt the best. Just look at their reviews online or ask anyone who has tried it, for real.

So, you’re probably thinking I did some light yoga, maybe barre or Pilates and walked during the week of the challenge. WRONG (in the voice of Alec Baldwin).

I took two spin classes, did one HIIT workout, walk/ran for 4 miles and did a 60 minute circuit workout at The Club, EveryBodyFights.  If I wasn’t doing the challenge, I would have washed my hair at least 3 times.

Living Proof Products

After visiting the Living Proof headquarters in Cambridge (yes, it’s a local company), I learned how it is made and how to properly use their dry shampoo. For starters, you use it on dry hair. So if you’re using it after a workout, wait until your hair is dry or use a blow drier. Then, shake the bottle and spray the roots and/or areas of sweat. Let it sit for at least 30 seconds. Then, shake your hair vigorously with your hands. You can see how I do it in the vlog below. This is actually removing the dry shampoo from your hair and along with it the sweat, oil and odor. So now, the product isn’t sitting in your hair weighing it down or making it look white.

Unlike other dry shampoos, your hair will return to it’s natural regular color after use. Let’s be honest, how many of us actually know what our natural color is supposed to look like these days?

I washed my hair on Monday and blew it dry myself. I used a little bit of Living proof’s 5 in 1 styling treatment as always. I didn’t wash it again until Sunday.

So, are you curious what my hair looked like after all these workouts and zero shampoo? Watch the video below.

Side note, their newest product dry volume blast is my second obsession after the dry shampoo. It adds volume, texture and a little bit of hold on dry hair. You didn’t know you needed it but you do. Trust me. It make you feel like you just had a professional blow out even though you spent 2 minutes drying your hair upside down.

Dry Volume Blast

Yes, this is a sponsored post by Living proof, but they are my absolute favorite hair care company and why I only work with them when it comes to hair products. I spend my own money on the full size products at Sephora because they make me feel good about how my hair looks whether I spend 2 or 40 minutes on it. If you haven’t tried it yet, they have travel sized kits that are perfect for holiday gifts or testing it out yourself.
