Win Dick’s Cottons Sunglasses + New Salad Recipe!

On the third day of fitness my blog friend gave to me, Dicks Cottons sunglasses.

DicksCottons 035

These are the brand new Mayflower Wayfarer sunglasses from Dick’s Cottons. One lucky blog reader or YouTube viewer will win these shades. The winner will be getting a preppy pair like mine, the tortoise with black lenses. This flattering frame looks good on most people’s faces. I for one have a terrible time picking out sunglasses that don’t look ridiculous on me. I fell in love with these when I saw them this past fourth of July on a friend. It was only the prototype and I had to wait over 5 months to get my hands on a pair! They retail at a reasonable $59 and are 100% UV protected.

DicksCottons 034

“Mayflower Wayfarer Sunglasses – Like these tortoise wayfarer sunglasses, Mayflower Beach is one of the most popular on the Cape and versatile enough for everyone. From newborns to grandparents, from relaxers to athletes, everyone has a blast here. The tide comes in slowly, creating hundreds of mini-pools, sandbars, and waist-high water as far as the eye can see. Maybe that’s why legend has it that Christopher Columbus relaxed here and named the beach after his boat. Get to Mayflower beach early, or don’t come at all. The same could be said of these classic shades, get them early before they’re gone. For post beach fun, get ice cream at Captain Frosty’s, then pizza and beverages at the Lost Dog Pub.” DicksCottons.com

My favorite pub just so happens to be the Lost Dog, so that might be why I like these shades so much. Do you have trouble finding a flattering pair of shades? To enter, leave a comment down below. For an additional entry, click to view the video above on YouTube and leave a comment there as well. You should probably subscribe too 🙂

Last week, I created a new go-to favorite fall recipe based on my dinner with Ashley of Practical Cooking For One.

Kale and Brussels Sprouts Salad

PB300028

Time: Prep 20 minutes, Cooking, 15 minutes

Ingredients:

6 cups Kale, stems removed and thinly sliced

2 cups Brussels Sprouts, thinly sliced

1 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 clove Garlic, chopped

1/2 tbsp Lemon juice

2 tbsp Pecorino Romano (or Parmesan Cheese)

2 tbsp Sliced Almonds, lightly toasted

1 tbsp Raisins (optional)

Directions:

In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil (or liberally spray) on medium. Add in chopped clove of garlic and sauté for about 2 minutes. Next add in Brussels Sprouts and cover for about 4 minutes. Sauté for another 5 minutes or until they begin to soften. Next, add in kale. Make sure that the kale and Brussels Sprouts are evenly distributed. Add in lemon juice, some pepper and salt to taste. Cover for another 3 minutes or until kale appears brighter and slightly wilted. Remove from heat. Add in cheese, almonds and raisins. Toss and serve.

This healthy recipe is an amazing addition to any entrée. I had for myself with a homemade turkey burger which I made in the same frying pan as the salad to reduce the amount of clean up. I also left in about a tablespoon of the salad and mashed it into the burger as it cooked. You can have this with quinoa for a vegetarian dish, grilled chicken or favorite white fish. All it needs is a hint of lemon and pepper.

PB300029

Winners for the Dicks Cottons giveaway will be announced on Facebook and Twitter so make sure you “Like” or follow so you know if you have won. For additional entries into the contest, leave a comment on my new video on YouTube which will be up later today!

UPDATE 12/7/11 The comments are now closed. Thank you for participating. You can still comment but it will not be counted towards winning.

I have the worst time picking out sunglasses as well, they never sit right! That salad looks super appetizing, I’m not a big brussel sprouts fan, would it be as good without them?

Yes, I have a horrible time trying to find good sunglasses!! 🙂 Either they’re too large, too small, or they’re just plain ugly. I have a small face and typically the sunglasses eat up my face. It’s hard to find good quality sunglasses that are flattering, for sure.

Yeah I’d love to have those glasses, right now I’m using some knockoff wayfarers. One of them is straight classic black but the plastic lenses are scratched up and they blind me in the sunlight, the other ones came from the 80s and they have like neon green frames. Those look awesome and would give me the motivation I need to start fitness blogging so I can give away cool prizes like you! 😀
