ENABLING YOUR PASSION FOR HEALTHY LIVING

Permission To Pause

It feels fitting that today I’m writing about the permission to pause. As a mom, you feel like you have to ask permission to literally take a minute for yourself, to breathe, relax and meditate. I’m not a big meditation person, but I feel like it’s exactly what I need right now.

Permission To Pause

Why?

For some reason, August has quickly become the craziest month for me all year from a work standpoint. Feels random but I’m going with it. I feel like I can’t keep up. It’s a good problem to have in business but man is it exhausting.

I handle stress a few different ways. One is exercise like running or yoga.

Meditate

The other is a new effort of meditation. I’ve been trying to use meditation to help me manage my anxiety. I once asked my friend Lacey, a yogi friend, what I should recite and she replied that I could use something as simple as “Breathe in, breathe out.” That was 4 years ago and I still use it to this day.

My long time YouTube friend Rebekah Borucki also has a book, “You Have 4 Minutes to Change Your Life: Simple 4 Minute Meditations for Inspiration, Transformation and True Bliss.” I love this book yet I find it hard to even take 4 minutes for myself between work and family.

Women like Rebekah and Lacey, are amazing examples in the social media space of how active, healthy, confident women can help empower each other to realize their limitless potential. In a self absorbed digital obsessed world, meditation can help you stay sane and I’m fortunate to have met so many strong women during my career who have exposed me to it.

For the rest of August, I’m giving myself permission to pause during nap time especially to try and practice 4 minute meditations.

I’m wearing the new Restore line from Athleta in today’s post. Restore is meant to inspire you to press pause and take a moment for yourself to experience relaxation, and restoration in order to live up to your full potential and conquer whatever life throws your way. From stress at work to the everyday nuances of being a toddler mom, I need to take more time to press pause.

When you try on the pants I’m wearing, you 100% will want to relax. They are the most comfy and flattering hang out pants I’ve ever worn. You’ll never wear a pair of sweatpants again. I’m serious!

The new line of Athleta wear is ultra lush and comfortable. The sustainable pieces are perfect for your days off from working out, Netflix and chilling, or living in during your maternity leave. These will be in my hospital bag next time I’m in the delivery ward… whenever that will be.

What I love most is the sheer comfort yet flattering pieces in a neutral color palette. The line leverages the trend and lifestyle of meditation while looking great too.

I’ve been a fan of Athleta for quite some time for their cute clothes that are well made but also for their commitment to female empowerment, like being one of the first companies to use athletic, strong looking mannequins. They inspire me to be my best self and not just some photoshopped version of celebrity skinny. They also offer trainers an awesome discount!

But that doesn’t mean I can’t try to pose for a killer Insta right?

This post is sponsored by Athleta and was written wearing the pants seen above. All thoughts and opinions are my own and the pants really are the most comfortable pair of pants I’ve worn in a LONG time.
