What’s Beautiful? Female Athletes!

How does a trip to Florida this winter with top trainers, nutrition experts and spa luxuries sound? What if I told you that pursuing your fitness goals could land you this opportunity? We are beautiful and Under Armour wants to acknowledge and reward our hard work!

Inspirational posts like the above are all part of UA’s “What’s Beautiful Campaign” which encourages women to share their fitness journeys and receive motivation, free gear and support from Under Armour along the way. Under Armour is dedicated towards the empowerment of women and refining the beauty of the female athlete.

I signed up to be a member myself a few months ago. During the initial set up, you have to declare a goal. Mine was to train for a half marathon while continuing to encourage others to find their passion for healthy living and fitness through my YouTube channel.

The half marathon goal was supposed to be achieved in two weeks, but as you might now know, is not happening. I’m still training in hopes that I’ll be able to sign up for a random race before the end of the year. It really is a struggle for me to run for 90 minutes or more.

Last year, I was challenged with competing in 3 Urbanathlons, a 10 mile race with urban obstacles around the country. I was nervous since the farthest distance I had ever run racing was 6 miles. Adding in 10 obstacle challenges and 4 additional miles was scary, not to mention the pressure of being the sponsored blogger! I wanted to finish in the top 10% of my division. I trained from June to October vigorously and accomplished my goal. This picture was taken after I finished, and I think this is one of my favorite personal “What’s Beautiful” moments.

I ran faster than I predicted and felt amazing at the finish. Covered in dirt and sweat, accomplishment can make you feel more beautiful better than any makeup can.

My other goal was to inspire others to get fit through my YouTube fitness channel. That goal is still going strong without any end in sight. Here is my recap at the end of all three Urbanathlon races. I did the final race with Cassey from Blogilates and Roomie as a relay.

What’s Beautiful is first a means to redefine the female athlete to include people like you and me. The second part is that it’s a contest. To be eligible, you have to be at least 13 years old. Next, sign up and set your own goal. Conquer it and set a new one! Make it even bigger. Prove to everyone, and yourself, that you have more than what it takes.

Each week UA gives away Under Armour Swag Bags full of gear to the women who are showing their fitness dedication. On November 6th, 25 finalists will be chosen based on how impressive, motivated and monumental their activities shared have been. On or around November 27th, 10 winners will be chosen to be flown to Clearwater, Florida in early 2013. This experience known as Under Armour Women’s Camp Sweat, will allow the chosen to experience the best in training with elite UA trainers, access to nutrition experts, and luxurious spa treatments.

I really do try to sweat every day, so I love their tag line. It helps clear my head and makes me overall just feel better about myself. I also love that I can call myself athlete again despite not belonging to any organized teams.

To find my profile, search “Sarah D” on the site. If you signed up as well, leave your username so I can follow you! I’ve been trying to find new people!

Sarah I tried setting up a account with Under Armour, but I kept getting errors. Maybe their having problems. I love the idea of this. Anyway here is my declaration : “I will continue to eat clean and train hard to reach my fitness goals for a strong body and 6 pack abs! I will continue to help others to reach their fitness goals through my youtube channel R.A.W. Fitness TV and blog RawFitnessLLC.com”

I stumbled across this blog from a influential tweet! Very cool. I know the sweat everyday thing here is on women’s advertising, but I try to make a point of it as well. I know how you feel being able to consider yourself an athlete! I love the feeling of being fit and capable of doing whatever challenge faces me!
