After my LA shoot, I drove to Rancho Palos Verdes to reunite with my Ford Warriors In Pink teammates. I am excited to announce that I will be once again working as a 2015 Model of Courage for the Warriors In Pink.
Ford understands that there are two very important elements in the fight against breast cancer – driving awareness that leads to proactive self-care and raising funds to support research and education. So Warriors in Pink apparel was created to help do both. The apparel that weaves the Symbols of the Warrior into each original design helps keep breast health top of mind. And, as always, 100 percent of the net proceeds support breast cancer charities. WIP have chosen four diverse charities – so you can decide where your donation goes. It’s your choice at checkout.
The summit is organized each year to take pictures of the models wearing the new line and treat the MOC’s to a weekend getaway retreat. The Models of Courage are made up of 13 survivors and 7 co-survivors/social advocates. I am one of the social advocates along with Sam Schuerman, Sonia Castenada and Kathryn Budig for a second year.
The weekend was hosted at the Terranea Resort, in picturesque southern California. Before my call time, I fit in a long run around the runner friendly peninsula. I was flying back to Boston on a red eye Friday night and knew the last thing I would want on Saturday was to go running so I made sure to fit in my long run for the week on Friday. The first 12 miles were supposed to be easy-ish and the last 3 were supposed to be at goal marathon race pace. The constant change in elevation made it difficult to maintain any pace.
At the end, I was pretty pumped that I was able to hit my target pace. Side note, I did not start my RunKeeper app until the 4th mile. Afterwards, I ate my weight in food from the craft services and got ready for my up close shots! We did have a bunch of down time where I was able to catch up on email, Instagram and everything else. Sam took this photo of me “busy” at work. I love the comfy sweats that I got to wear for the day. The pink Under Armour top is keeping me warm and not meant for the shoot.
There were plenty of unhealthy options to snack on throughout the day but of course the only picture I took was of the beautiful veggie platter. I could not stop eating as usual on my long run days and was thankful for the healthy spread.
My shoot was down by the beach. Standing on a rock again, I tried to show off the sweat pants and t-shirt as best I could. I am not a very creative model. I never have any idea what to do with my hands.
Afterwards we took our group shot which I think came out great. I especially loved the headband I got to wear.
The line is not up on the site yet but will be soon. I’m excited to work with the WIP for another year and share my missions with all of you guys!
Read more about my partnership with the Warriors In Pink here. I am not compensated for my involvement but am given a vehicle to use for the duration of the campaign.
Love that you’re doing this, Sarah. So cool!
Hope you’re having a wonderful time!
Looks like such a fun shoot and how cool you get a car for the duration of the shoot.
Hi Sarah! Congrats on being part of the campaign again — it’s such a great cause. Loving your new haircut too! 🙂
Ahhh…I love this campaign! I have the same headband and always love(d) wearing it…not sure where it is right now! You look great in that picture and I am glad you had a great time! What a great mission!
Such a wonderful cause! Great to hear you are part of their campaign again.
