When I tell people I am training for a marathon, they often say to me, “I could maybe run 20 feet” as my Warrior In Pink teammate Sam Schuerman said or “I bet you eat whatever you want?” I pretty much do eat whatever I want lately. My body needs it. While I still prefer to be the salad and macaron type girl, I have been eating more rice, noodles and bread lately to keep up my energy.
I shared earlier in the week what my marathon training diet included this past weekend after running 18 miles. I got the idea because a couple of weeks ago my videographer and I shot a What I Eat In A Day video featuring my marathon diet. This one includes a bit more alcohol and cookies. It is finally live and here for you to watch!
Like I said earlier in the week, I do not eat this way Monday through Friday but on Saturdays when I finish my long runs, I do kinda let myself eat whatever my heart desires or my body craves. This often includes more sugar than a dietitian would recommend but isn’t that why I’m training to run a marathon?
For an actual nutrition guide on what runner’s should eat from someone who knows what the heck they are talking about, check out this e-book Nutrition for Runners from my friend Anne of Fannetastic Food.
Delicious day! I want that sprouted muffin so badly!!
Looks like a great day! Does drinking the night of a long run make you more sore the next day?
Stopping in from Sam’s vlog. Looking forward to reading more of your blog ๐
What’s your go-to tequila drink that’s light on the sugar and calories? Thanks!
It is so important to refuel and give yourself time to recover when doing such vigorous exercise! Also, it is important to let yourself have what you want at least once a week! ๐ Go get em girl!
