ENABLING YOUR PASSION FOR HEALTHY LIVING

WORKOUT VIDEO: 10 or 20-Minute HIIT Workout with Dumbbells

If something is important to you, then you make sure to find a way to get it done. For me, exercise is important because it keeps me energized, in a good mood and it’s something I get to do without my son that I really enjoy! It’s my “me time.”

During the week, I go to spin class once or twice in the morning where I have childcare. Tommy naps after class. I try to squeeze in a workout on either Wednesday or Friday in between his 2 naps but have been finding it difficult and usually only have 20 minutes.

This has forced me to up my HIIT game. HIIT if you’re unfamiliar with the term is for high intensity interval training. It basically combines strength and cardio based moves that are really challenging. You maximize the effort your putting in. So yeah, it kinda sucks but you’re done quick!

I’m sharing one of my favorite workouts today that I do pretty regularly at the gym when time is limited. It works the entire body and all you need are a pair of dumbbells.

This morning, I was lucky and was able to pull of a morning workout before Tommy even woke up. This required a lot of strategic planning and it also meant I was waking up every hour.

For my moms curious how I pulled it off see below, if you could care less – try the work out above because it rocks!!!!

I never attempted a morning workout because Tommy’s wake up time is unpredictable, anytime between 6:15 and 8 am. I’m still nursing and when he first wakes up he is not happy. He is HANGRY. However, 3 outta 4 mornings he wakes up at 5:30 am. I nurse him and then he goes back to sleep until 8 ish and isn’t hungry when he wakes up. I figured this was a perfect opportunity to go to a class that starts between 6:30 and 7 am. If he doesn’t wake up at 5:30 am however, he gets up at 6:15-7 am. I lucked out this morning and Tommy sure enough got up at 5:30 am.  I think I may try getting up at 6:30 on mornings he wakes up from now on as long as Nick doesn’t have morning workout plans himself.
