Is Anna Kournikova the new Jillian Michaels?

Anna Kournikova Biggest Loser

Tomorrow night at the end of The Biggest Loser Season 12 finale, there will be a big announcement.  As most of you know, Jillian Michaels will be stepping down to focus on adopting and raising a child.  However continuing the trend of hiring un-credentialed personal trainers like Cara Castronova, the show will announce former tennis hottie Anna Kournikova as one of the trainers for season 13.

This is just mind boggling to me.  The show has such a powerful voice, it’s sad that the unsafe methods used for extreme weight loss are nearing so close to danger.  At least Bob and Jillian have grown as trainers over the years, protecting the contestants’ health and bodies more and more each season.  With the addition of another pretty faced athlete, it seems the producers just want ratings and do not care about the actual safety of contestants.

These athletes are trained by professionals during their careers.  That doesn’t mean that they took the time to learn the science behind their training.  It sure as heck doesn’t mean they have experience with obese clients either!  They are world class athletes and have no idea what it’s like to work with a client who has hypertension, 100 lbs to lose or severe postural issues!  What once was an inspirational show with criticism is turning into a recipe for injuries and poor ethics.

What do you think?
