Last night, Nick and I celebrated an incredible accomplishment of mine. I was named Boston magazine’s Best of Boston® 2016 – Best Personal Trainer!
Every year, Boston magazine honors the best businesses in the city including restaurants, retail, apps, gyms, parks, hotels, salons and more.
I was invited with a guest to celebrate all the winners at BestFest 2016, a huge party on City Hall Plaza featuring tons of food from the city’s best restaurants and an open bar! The event was open to the public but winners were gifted two tickets each. Even with a VIP ticket, we had to wait about 10 minutes to get through security there were so many attendees!
VIP’s could arrive at 6 and general admission began at 7. There was a live DJ and band in addition to the food and drinks. We arrived at 6:30 PM and left while the party was still hopping at 9:30… #MomLife.
Tickets were over $100 but I think they were worth their price of admission given the unlimited food and beverages from award-winning vendors. Despite the line to get in at 6:30, once you were in the lines were nonexistent and quick-moving. The only money needed was to tip the bartenders. I tried everything from Tuna Poke from Uni to fish tacos from El Centro, plus Skyy Vodka cocktails, 90+ Cellars wine, Georgetown cupcakes and FOMU ice cream!
I tried to be tech free and only took a couple of pictures at the beginning and end of the night. Figures. I had a stressful day and had a glass of wine in one hand most of the time and food in the other. This left me without a hand to properly document.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Boston magazine and to be recognized by them for my hard work is an incredible honor. While I haven’t been personal training clients at any specific studio in Boston since mid 2015, I put all of my training efforts into personal training all of you over at the SFit Gym, here on my blog and YouTube channel.
I’m lucky to be able to work with more people through my online platforms and not just Bostonians. To be locally recognized for that is pretty amazing, especially since I’ve been on the fitness scene here in Boston for over 8 years.
In addition, the two studios I worked at prior to Tommy were also recognized, Barry’s Bootcamp and Burn Fitness Studio! Pretty amazing.
Boston magazine put on such an amazing event and I’ll be sure to go back next year even if I’m not honored. It was such a good time and put on so smoothly. The event planners should be proud as big events like this tend to be out of control and this was anything but once you were in.
