After weeks of having to turn down work events, I finally said yes, “F’ it. I’m bringing my baby.” Of course with the OK from the agency… ๐
Still trying to figure out if I want to hire help or do this on my own, I’ve had to say no to more work events than I’d like to admit as a result of not having some one to watch Tommy. It also doesn’t help that he all of a sudden will not take a bottle. How can I leave him with someone knowing he may go on a hunger strike and cry until I come home?
So on Tuesday night when Nick had a work event, I brought my baby to the VIP opening of Juice Press in Chestnut Hill. I wore him in my Baby Bjorn the entire time and he had quite the evening! He didn’t cry once and was smiling at everyone except in this snap I took with Nicole.
We got to try out the juices and smoothies as well as the food. It was my kind of opening party.
There are many juice bars that I love, but what I like in particular about Juice Press is the food they offer as well. Everything I’ve had is delicious and full of flavor, including their kale salads which on paper sound boring. They are not.
I don’t know what they do to the kale to make it so crisp and easy to chew but it’s almost like the flash steam it. The desserts are also delicious. What’s not to love though right? The raw chocolates are my favorite.
In addition to these, they also have dried fruit, nuts and granola, as well as breakfast offerings like chia pudding and raw oatmeal. Both are really good but thick and sweet. I like sweet. You might not. It’s a personal preference. It is because they are made with the cashew milk which is creamy and sweetened with dates.
We were invited to make our own acai bowls behind the counter as a nod to the Instagramm-ability of a perfectly curated meal. Tommy helped me make this beautiful bowl that I ate for dinner in addition to the samples.
I used the almond butter acai base and enjoyed that it lacked the typical overly tart and sweet acai flavor. It was mellow and smooth. I topped it with granola, coconut, chia seeds, and fruit.
The Juice Press location is next to Splendid on The Street at Chestnut Hill shopping strip which is their first outside of New York. They have a second Massachusetts location opening in Back Bay next to Soul Cycle in the next couple months and then a third in the Seaport again next to SC some time in 2017.
While I like juice, I like food a lot more and the more healthy places to grab food near me, the better. I remember driving out to Chestnut Hill a few years ago and there being ZERO healthy options to grab lunch. We ate at Shake Shack! Juice Press joins Sweetgreen as another option on Route 9.
My favorite things to try would be the raw chocolates, For The Love of Kale salad, the acai bowl, raw oatmeal and Coffee with JP Black Coffee blend. Everything is vegan I should note and mostly (if not all) organic hence the prices.
Tommy and I stayed a little over an hour and got home just in time for bed. Already in his PJ’s, I nursed him and put him down to sleep. He slept for 7 hours straight in his crib! Ate for 5 minutes and then went back to bed until 6 AM for the second night in a row. THIS IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF PEOPLE. After a month of sleep regression, Tommy (I think fingers crossed) is back to being my good little sleeper that he used to be.
Instead of hitting it at 4 months, he hit it at 3 months and it lasted a full month. He will be officially 4 months tomorrow.
After seeing how well he did out in a crowded setting right before bed time, it put me at such ease. I hate saying no to opportunities but I equally hate asking people to watch Tommy knowing he may not take a bottle from them. Babies!

I would love a post on how you transitioned Tommy from the rock n play to the crib. My baby sleeps pretty well in his rock n play but will not sleep in his crib and I’m dreading having to make the transition. Any tips?
I passed by this in NYC and I thought everything looked absolutely amazing! I don’t generally go to juice places because I do find that they’re overpriced. But once in a while it’s very fun to try new places!
Great recap! It was so nice meeting both you AND Tommy! I hope you are able to bring him to more events. ๐
