I must admit it took my pregnancy with Tommy to get over my fear of carbs over 5 years ago. It sounds so silly to say out loud but now, because they make up 50% of my diet. I craved anything with red sauce with Tommy from eggplant parmesan to pizza, if it had red sauce, I needed it! Fast forward, to my third pregnancy, I’m still obsessed with red sauce (not the heart burn so much) and pasta. I have found that more good carbs from quality sources, decrease my cravings for sweets that provide zero nutritional value.
Now that we no longer live in the city and are in the middle of a pandemic, my pregnancy craving whims are harder to satisfy so I’ve had to be proactive in stocking up my fridge with good hearty and healthy foods that are quick and easy to prepare.
I recently got to taste test a variety of the easy fresh pasta meal kits from Twyrl at Home, a local restaurant based in Arlington turned meal kit service. I was instantly in love with how delicious each dish was but also obsessed that the meals took only 10 minutes to prepare!
All the food is made from scratch, using fresh ingredients, no preservatives, and fresh spices. Their goal is to serve the healthiest, freshest pasta meals possible. You can really taste the difference. The pasta is handmade daily from fresh eggs and high-protein flour. You finish eating a hearty meal, feeling good!
TWYRL quickly adapted to the Covid changes by selling favorite menu items as part of a subscription kit for regular pick up or delivery in areas around Boston.
Our families favorite sauces were the beef ragu and super veggie. The head chef and owner raves about the combination of the super veggie and alfredo sauce! We tried them together one night and agreed, it was dee-licious.
The veggie lasagna was also one of my favorites. The gluten free pasta was the best fresh gf pasta I’ve tasted! If you avoid gluten as many of my clients in the FASTer Way do, you’ll feel like you’re indulging in the real thing here.
I am a firm believer that carbs are so important for every diet. When I eat a diet rich in good carbohydrates, I find I crave less sugary desserts that have zero nutritional value and I feel better!
